Sunday

Sunday was Bob's birthday.  Laura and Paige and Aubrey sang and gifted him with new swim trunks.  He had played with them in the pool all day Saturday.  The grandaughter's energy is awesome.  I think if I could bottle it and use it I would forever stay young.
Sunday afternoon Bob and I drove over to Shirley's home and look at the art on her wall.  She is quite free is her painting style and uses a lot of color in it.  She said she paints fast and had books full of art she has sold throughout the years.  We talked about Qiang's observations about color and why she chose this style of painting.  You can see the objects but there isn't a tight exactness about it.  Very modern paintings on large canvas and they reminded me of the 50's. She see's grays and has painted in different mediums to try them out.  I don't think I have seen a painting style like this before.  She would burn out and work as a real estate broker, etc. once in a while. Shirley Zena Schminler Brodoff also ran the Blue Ridge Art Center for many years. She has huge closet full of paintings.  She won't give it up yet.  She gave me her last painting also.  But I have to get it another time.  It was pouring rain when we left and I didn't want to get it wet.
