A flower painting

Just why is painting flowers so hard for me?  I think I can't get the depth you need.  I can see the orange and pink in this photo, but it doesn't really show up on the painting.  I kept layering on paint trying to get depth and texture.  I washed my paintbrushes forever.!!  I felt  my time was better spent today.  We went for a boat ride and filled up the tank.  It came to $106.00 to fill it.  Quite a few of the homes on the lake looked shut down for the year.  I have decided I need some more curtains on my house to shut it down.  We are putting down mulch right now, well, another person was hired to do it.  He gave up at 3:00 and said it was too hot.  He is older than I am or my age and working so hard with one young man for help.  This is costing a lot to do and does need to be done.  I know they need the job since there are only two working and they say it will take 5 days to finish.  I see two people working like this with pride and I want to stomp on some person's of importance (in government) toe hard.  People will work to make a living if they would encourage people to work with pride instead of give it away out of "guilt".  Let's start with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.  Nothing is free... you end up paying in the end..
