the posts are slowing down

I am painting.  Actually I will do two paintings as Christmas gifts.  I am enjoying portrait painting.  I had no idea how fun it can be and how very challenging it can be also.  I will post the picture when it is finished.  Thanksgiving is headed our way in the U.S. and that will be a busy week of cooking and visiting.  I hope Qiang manages to keep up his blog while he spends 2 months in China.  I know he will have some lovely pictures taken and painted before he returns.   The museum of art here in Greenville, SC has a day of sketching and hands out books and pencil's and has an art teacher to guide you.  The Blue Ridge Art Society of Seneca, S.C. is hanging paintings and art work for a showing soon.  They asked me to do it, but I really don't feel good enough to do something like that yet.  I am just starting to do larger paintings besides.  Now, I need to get these two finished and get to work on practicing painting pears.!!
I have jury duty in Austin the Monday after Thanksgiving.  So, I don't know what I'll manage to get done during that period also.  Happy Holiday's is here.!!

Laura Robb

Through a lovely grapevine of the Doves, there is a Laura Robb workshop in Sante Fe at the Valdez workshop.  It is March 21st for 3 days.  I am so excited and anxious, but I signed up and will be there with bells on.  You should go to her web sight and see her paintings.  She grew up in Tulsa, Ok.  I wanted the "company" to give my  husband one of Laura's painting as their surprise gift.  Well, they called back and said they couldn't afford one of her paintings. Hehe.  I guess I am happy they had his retirement to give back.  lol
Anyway, go see her art and learn about her and join us in New Mexico.  What fun.!!
I understand the Bartlesville Art Association's art show last night was a HUGE success.  Everyone was talking about how beautiful it was set up and the Paint Off.!! maybe some new painters are inspired to step out of step back and PAINT.  It makes this world a better place.

Richard Kalwick

ok.  The portrait class was so good.  We had three models of very different faces.  One of the models is also a painter and joined us the next two days.  She had great style with her painting.  We enjoyed our artists laid back style. His family must enjoy him so very much.  He has a planned trip to Mexico in July that sounds very good and not too far away.  Most of them go to Italy, so this is a good paint opportunity and not too expensive.  So, I have learned some very basic and beginner tools for painting a face.  There is lots of practice I can see in my future.  I hope Bob is up for a lot of sitting, since he and Chase a black Lab is all I have around here most of the time.  Well, my daughter and her husband, but with two children, I can not imagine their getting the chance to sit still much.
We have plans to head to Disney in Feb.  Since I have never been there and am 63 years old, well, what an I say but Oh, Boy.!!  I will enjoy it as much as the 2 year old and 4 year old.  Speaking of which, we went to the Puss and Boots movie with both girls.  It was 3D which surprised us since it was a local little theater.  They enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed the movie.
Thanks Dedra for all the supper organization for the Bartlesville Arts Association hosting this class.
