I took a square canvass to class when I started this subject, but had no idea where to begin, so Kathy demo painted one for me using that canvass. Now, she gets $2000.00 a painting ( the price on her paintings.)so I felt I needed to tell her that I didn't expect her to give me the painting she did. ( although it was my paint, my brushes, my paid lesson, and my canvas. She kept the painting. Never offered it to me. sigh.... So the other canvas I had was this shape and I had to do with it. I needed some New Yorker in my blood.!!

This painting has two coats of paint on it. I did the initial shaping and shadows ( with help) and then two weeks later I used my Lucas medium 2 over the painting and then started to add more detail. ( with help.) Unfortunately I forgot to take of a picture of my set up at the class room, and now the gallery is closing down, so I'll have to wing it upstairs in my studio as best as I can. Talk about a hard subject to paint. But I am loving it.
